In 2004, St. Elizabeth Interparochial
School will celebrate its 50th anniversary of providing quality education to the youth of
our parish and its neighboring towns. Its dedicated staff of teachers, priests and parents
has worked with commitment and generosity to ensure that each child develops spiritually,
morally and academically. A tradition of balancing rigorous academics within a nurturing
environment, along with training in Christian values, helps us to maintain our reputation
as one of the more respected schools in our community. Founded in 1954, the school began with four grades under the guidance of three
Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace. In 1962, additional grades were added, and, finally by
1982 with the addition of its Pre Kindergarten program, the school was equipped to handle
the needs of the total parish community. Presently under the leadership of Sr.
Beatrice Ryan , the instructional program follows the core curriculum required by the New
Jersey Department of Education. The students' educational experience is enriched with
programs such as Computers, Music, Art, Library Education and Physical Education.
Religious study is a key component of the curriculum, and students participate in school
and class liturgical experiences.
The staff of twenty-three teachers at St. Elizabeth
Interparochial School is committed to the spirit of Catholic education. All teachers are
state certified, many with advanced degrees. They are assisted by professional speech
therapists and remedial teachers provided by the State of New Jersey. Teachers participate
in continuing education workshops and conferences to keep their skills fresh and
innovative. To underscore our academic strengths, the school underwent a two-year
self-study and evaluation by the prestigious Middle States Commission on Elementary
Schools, with accreditation being granted in 2002.
Our philosophy of development of the whole child is
reinforced by our participation in the Northern Bergen County Parochial Elementary Sports
League. Athletes have the opportunity to compete in basketball and cheerleading, and our
teams have won several trophies.
In a loving,
yet disciplined environment, we seek to affirm and support our students. Each child
is encouraged by caring faculty, staff and administration to reach his or her potential.
Growth and expansion have not changed the original focus of the school: to help
students discover Truth in a value-rich Catholic atmosphere.
